On Being a Better Tentmaker
Are you one of the many Adventists who are taking jobs outside of their home country, like the apostle Paul, earns a living in his or her own occupation, and interested in sharing Jesus. What a great opportunity to broaden your cultural horizons. But no matter what country your family moves to, it is not "home." Transitions across cultural borders are not easy. As a Christian, you not only need to transition well for your own personal and family health, you also want to represent your Lord correctly in this new culture. This is why you are a "tentmaker."
Your church welcomes families moving to a "foreign" country to join church missionaries in seminars and online courses designed to help you in your transition and in your Christian witness. Adventist Mission even has a few scholarships available to assist families (if they are moving to the least-evangelized areas of the world) to attend a three-week Mission Institute.
- Prepare to be a Tentmaker by attending a Mission Institute along with other missionaries. See schedule here.
- Prepare to be a Tentmaker by taking online courses in mission. See courses here.
Adventist Mission provides an excellent web site for explaining the "Total Employment" concept. You will discover that your Church is ready to help you transition your career into a witnessing and discipling enterprise. To check out this tentmaker opportunity, click here.
